Important book to read during these times, to have a framework for what is happening in the US.

I admit that I usually find history boring and ponderous, but the past decade has given me much to think about and, more specifically ,the last three years of American history. There are so many well-explained warnings from other countries’ histories spelled out here. One begins to see that American democracy is indeed in danger but that there is some hope. This book was clearly written for the average reader with a high school education. It’s both easy and engrossing to read. If you desire more depth to the writers’ arguments, there are plenty of endnotes. Every American—left, right, and center—needs to read this book.
