Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was a riveting love story. However... I dislike the frequent name-dropping of artists, poets, etc. I feel it was completely unnecessary and it seemed to me that the author was simply trying to show how cultured she is. In the same vein, there are several times where a character quotes in German or French. I could pick up bits of the French passages but none of the German. I would imagine there are many readers who would have no idea what any of it meant. Again, unnecessary. I was completely unprepared for the "c-word" to pop up a couple of times. I am not at all a prude but when it appeared, it disturbed the flow of the story. If I had been reading erotica, I would not even flinch but in a novel such as this, it just seemed vulgar.
Other than these relatively minor issues, I would definitely recommend this book. The author's use of foreshadowing was impressive and I enjoyed how topics that had been touched on earlier in the book were explained as I got further into the story. I'm not usually a huge fan of time travel, but I enjoyed how it was written in this novel.

This book left me emotionally empty... In a good way. I really really really liked but I will never read it again.
slow-paced
One of the few occasions where the film is better than the book. This was a struggle to get through. What a waste of a concept.
Very interesting way to tell a love story. Found it engaging and beautiful - and definitely different.
My new favourite book! So beautiful, heart wrenching and mystifying, it left me weeping for days!
Not the best book I've ever read, but not the worst either. There were some parts I really liked and others where I had to force myself to keep reading.

I have heard so many great things about this book over the years and just got around to reading it. Now I know why people love it so much! It didn't exactly blow me away, but the plot setup, the characters created, and the scenes described make this book incredible. Audrey Niffenegger does a great job in this novel of curating complex characters and seamlessly bringing each of them together. Each time period I connected to another, and it is so fun creating your own connections as you read.
This book is thought-provoking, especially as conversations around the space-time continuum are circulating. I couldn't help but wonder what would happen if we made different choices, were constantly changing lives, or couldn't have any true possessions of our own. I was prompted to think about what life is really about and what I would do if I was constantly waiting for another person to come into my life.
I suggest this book for anyone looking for a complex, fun, and inspiring fiction read!

Horrendous! A painful read. I thought the premise was interesting hence why I wanted to read it and to be fair it is an interesting concept but the execution was terrible! Following the relationship for Clare and Henry though various point in their life and the struggles they face due to Henry’s time travelling. Huge issues with their relationship and Henry grooming Clare. We get perspectives from each of them and they are both as annoying as each other. I think the modern colloquial style of writing made it so bad and cringey. Also losing his feet was so crazy and unnecessary I don’t see what the point of that was. However; I do like how Henry’s time travel is essentially depicted as an epileptic disorder; It would come on like a seizure, triggered by strong emotions or TV, and he would experience an aura before slipping forward or backward in time but that pro does no dismiss all the other flaws.
