Need Me is book 2 in Tessa Bailey’s Broke and Beautiful series and is Honey and Ben’s story, who we met in Chase Me.
Honey is a premed student while Ben is an English professor, and yes Honey does take one of his classes. There is however another connection, with their friends Louis and Roxy (from Chase Me) being a couple.
These two have a chemistry, a physical attraction certainly but also a connection through their written words and a meeting of the minds. Ben finds Honey intriguing before he even knows her through her assignments she has handed in. It is against the rules for any fraternising to take place between Professor and student, making this somewhat of a forbidden romance. Tessa Bailey is a rom com queen so this is written in a lighthearted way, and with all the spice!
This friendship group makes for fun and engaging reading and perfect for these summer days! I look forward to Abby and Russell’s story up next in MAKE ME.
Need Me is OUT NOW!

3.6!!

The second book theory reigns true. Hot professor? Hot. Country gal? Hot. Knockin boots? Hot. THE CLOSET SCENE? Bye.

Final Rating = 3.5/5

For Bailey Book lovers, you can really see the growth and how much her writing has evolved by reading her older material like ‘Need Me’, after the likes of novels like ‘It Happened One Summer’ or ‘Unfortunately Yours’.

But, that said, as is the case with every Bailey Book, even as I go back and read some of her older material, I still leave feeling warm and fuzzy and like I’ve just watched a feel-good 00s romcom.

An easy, quick, feel-good read

Again. Why do the endings of these just leave you feeling let down?

DNF'd at the end of chapter 3. I'm not at all squeemish about taboo teacher-student relationships but the characters have to be on equal grounds. Here however, the hero and heroine engaged in sexual activities while the heroine knows he's her professor but the hero has no clue she's his student. This left a really bad taste in my mouth. Really can't be bothered to finish it because I just feel gross now. Maybe I'll come back to it one day and pick up where I left off.

Also, I've been on a Tessa Bailey binge and realized her books work best for me when there's a male narrator (bc dirty talk, duh) and since this one only has a female narrator, I just couldn't get into it. The narrator isn't bad by any means, I just like hearing Tessa Bailey's guys' POV in a man's voice.

I've enjoyed some professor-student stories before but this one was too rushed. There's not much to develop their relationship aside from the MMC being an utter tool and her immediately forgiving him because love for some reason. Might as well have been a novella (it is on the shorter side) because it is shallow and doesn't hit the right development notes for me.
