I'm so disappointed by this book. :( When I read Chase Me I thought Ben would have my favourite story, and I really liked Honey as well. But there was so much about this one that I couldn't get behind.
1) Ben and Honey fell for each other NOT in the setting of the friend group, but because he was her professor. There were things done to make the dynamic less problematic - their first hookup being while Ben didn't recognize her, Ben quitting Columbia and switching to NYU to avoid the power issue, Honey pursuing him first... but it couldn't get the nagging feeling out of my head. I much would have preferred them meeting/hooking up before they knew he was her professor so we knew the power imbalance wasn't a major factor (but still there).
2) I cannot get over the fact that Honey SA'd Ben the first time they hooked up. Tessa unfortunately made it VERY clear that Honey knew Ben wouldn't be romantically involved with her if he knew it was her, and she intentionally omitted the information. You don't have his consent if you KNOW he would withdraw it with the information you're withholding!!! It made it hard for me to root for Honey when she did that, and because it was so early on I found myself not giving her a chance for the rest of the book.
3) I don't believe they love each other. Sorry. Can they eventually? Sure! But this book is entirely based on lust and you can't convince me otherwise.
4) I read this book right after The Au Pair Affair, and unfortunately that made it glaringly obvious how much better Tessa has become as a writer since writing this book. There were so many times reading this one where I felt like it was a glorified Wattpad story (all the love to Wattpad - some of y'all are fantastic, I just mean the Wattpad stereotypes). Dialogue/inner monologues felt forced, plot points felt like they were included because Tessa wanted them & not because they made sense, language didn't always fit the character... idk. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but it gave that vibe a lot.
5) Ben and Honey didn't seem to have strong personalities to me. I give this one a bit of a pass because the lust clouded their judgement a lot and it made it hard to figure out what's important to them outside of each other, but I left this feeling like the only concrete things about their personalities is that they like each other, that Honey bakes, and Ben likes books. That's it.
I'm still going to read Abby and Russell's story despite bad luck with Honey/Ben and only okay luck with Roxy/Louis. At this point, I wouldn't recommend this series but would instead recommend Tessa's Big Shots or Bellinger Sisters series instead.

If you’re tired of slow burns and want immediate action and drama then this is the book for you. After a series of slow burn reads this book was a pleasant escape. Honey, yes that’s her real name, is a southern girl from Kentucky who is now doing pre-med at Columbia. She has a huge crush on her English professor who she tries to “seduce.” (It really isn’t a seduction when her smiling at Ben is enough to enchant him.) It comes to light that Ben, the professor is best friends with her roommates boyfriend. They meet and it goes well, then bad, then great, then horrible. It is just insanity and the journey is a lot of fun. Ben is an idiot of the highest grade but he redeems himself well.
I loved the dual POV as it tempered my hate of Ben and let me see how his dumb brain works. Honey is just a gem.
I ended the book and I wanted more. It’s satisfying and quick. Great pick me up. I need an epilogue, however. Oh well. I have the third book in this series to read to keep me calm.

everything about this book is unrealistic but the most unbelievable thing? That Ben has completed his PhD and has gainful employment AT TWENTY FIVE YEARS OLD Tessa please

-Proffessor / student
-Forbidden romance
- All the steam
Honey set her mind on seducing her college professor, she has a crush on him since she first saw him and she has decided to go after what she wants.
Ben is very serious and doesn't want anything to jeopardise his professional career but one look at Honey makes his question everything.
I liked the romance. I had a issue with the hero through,Ben messed up more than once and each time Honey was too easy to forgive him, he needed to grovel some more in order to earn her forgiveness.

Another ‘no thoughts, just vibes’ palette cleanser. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Ben but Honey was great, even though I could not picture her being only 19 years old.
