This was another one of Monica's easy and drama-filled romance reads. The characters were super funny and had all the flaws of a gut-wrenching romance. I loved the characters in the book and the witty female. I think the book had more potential for an in-depth storyline but it was an easy and quick read.

This book was just...well I did enjoy it, but everything happened so quickly. It was just like they are both sad then bam - back together without really talking or anything. SO I went along with it, but everything was just so fast paced and it was like all they did was sleep together all the time. Then the end with the crazy step-mom was just a little too neat and tidy. I don't know. I did enjoy the book but it wasn't my favorite ever.

Esattamente come per il primo titolo di questa serie, Dammi un'altra possibilità si prende tre cuoricini e si lascia dietro un vago senso di delusione. Arrivata a questo punto, però, mi sento abbastanza sicura che la colpa (passatemi il termine) sia tutta dell'autrice. Detta così sembra una fesseria ma, se ci pensate bene, molto spesso un romanzo non piace perché qualcosa nella storia non ci è andata a genio: personaggi, scene, episodi che sono sì usciti dalla mente dell'autrice ma che seguono un filo logico autonomo che, a volte, non si riesce a modificare. Ci sono volte, invece, che è l'uso delle parole, lo stile, la sensazione generale che viene trasmessa a non raggiungere il lettore e a non rendere completa la storia.
Ebbene la Murphy, per me, è un'autrice che non è riuscita a dare il 100% con questi personaggi, con questi due romanzi e, più in generale, con la storia.
Il primo romanzo si era chiuso con la fine della breve e intensa relazione tra Drew e Fable e con l'allontanamento volontario di Drew per cercare di risanare il suo passato e riprendere in mano le redini della sua vita. Dammi un'altra possibilità è un titolo azzeccatissimo per il seguito perché si basa principalmente sulla presa di coscienza di Drew (del tipo 'ops, ho fatto la cavolata del secolo') di aver compiuto degli errori, sulla sua volontà di smettere di scappare dal passato e sulla difficile decisione di intraprendere un percorso di guarigione. Drew mi era piaciuto molto nel primo romanzo, lo avevo trovato oscuro ma onesto e ne ho avuto la conferma: rimane fedele a se stesso ma compie lo sforzo di migliorarsi, di porre rimedio ai suoi errori e non si nasconde più. L'autrice, però, non ha dato una lettura del personaggio che potesse integrarlo, migliorarlo e arricchirlo: si rimane sempre sulla superficie, non si scende veramente a fondo nel cuore del personaggio. Bisogna accontentarsi di ciò che la Murphy scrive di lui e non aspettarsi niente di diverso. Non aiuta poi che in certi momenti Drew si trasformi in un piagnone lamentoso che continua a sbattere la testa contro gli stessi problemi, nonostante abbia tutti gli strumenti per superarli.
La stessa cosa è successa per Fable: per quanto mi piaccia e trovi che sia un personaggio diverso dalle solite ragazze del NA, non c'è stato un cambiamento, né una crescita vera e propria. Così com'era nel primo romanzo - realista, matura, responsabile - così è nel secondo; come era innamorata di Drew e pronta a tutto per convincerlo a stare con lei - perché abbastanza intelligente da capire i suoi limiti e i suoi problemi - tanto lo è in Dammi un'altra possibilità. Eppure un difetto si riesce a trovare anche in Fable: la sua resistenza a Drew è praticamente inesistente, ridicola quasi, e non offre nessuno spunto per una tensione emotiva degna di questo genere. Quello che dovrebbe essere il fulcro del contrasto, ciò che dovrebbe emozionare e creare ansia e felicità si risolve in un modo approssimato e frettoloso, senza approfondimento: due righe e tutto è dimenticato, si ritorna alla coppia felice.
Per quanto riguarda la trama rimaniamo sullo stesso tipo del primo romanzo, come evoluzione della storia - ovviamente - e conclusione di quello che è il grossissimo elefante psicopatico nella stanza. Ho trovato più interessante il rapporto tra Fable e il fratello rispetto al prevedibile elemento di disturbo Colin che svanisce in men che non si dica.
E' forse lo stile della Murphy, le parole che usa e il modo in cui le accosta a non lasciare il segno, a non entrare sotto pelle. In entrambi i romanzi, e in questo in modo particolare, ho avuto l'impressione di trovarmi di fronte ad un lavoro superficiale, senza struttura e volontariamente frettoloso. E' con Dammi un'altra possibilità, però, che ho pensato più volte che l'autrice avesse un tono e uno stile troppo infantile per la storia e per i personaggi e che non sia stata in grado di rendere giustizia ad una trama e a due protagonisti con un grandissimo potenziale.
Immagino che la prova del nove sia il terzo libro della serie. Se anche con quello avrò lo stesso problema sarà inevitabile un distacco dalla Murphy.

Ok. This is a toughie for me. I LOVE D+F and waited for this book to come out. Maybe it was the anticipation that got me, but I wasn't a full 5 stars on this one.
I give the personal growth and the angst that these two go through as individuals and the maturity in which they come together a solid 5 stars.
I give the sexin' another solid, rock hard, 5 stars.
I give the new characters a solid 4, some were necessary and some a total and complete distraction.
I give the closure with the parental issues a 3, lots of demons and a way too much left hanging in the end of this book. It reallllly moved at a snail's pace and them BOOM...mach 10.
I give the ending a 3 simply because it was rushed. Great ending, just REALLY wanted more of it and less of the inner dialogue filler that took up much of this book. Some of it I get. I mean, these two were dealing with major shit and saying I Love You to someone was a huge deal for them both, but there was also quite a bit of it that just seemed to be filler between the steamy scenes and then it rushed the ending. That's my only beef.
Did I mention the hawt lovin? Oh yes, I did. Solid. Five.
Overall this was an excellent follow up to a solid story and I love Drew and Fable even more than I did.

more hot than sweet or cute... the main characters are horny all the time and at some point it's tiring... but it was fun to read.

Após o final impróprio para românticos incuráveis de Uma Semana para te Amar, um pequeno grande livro pleno em emoções que me fez torcer fervorosamente pelos seus protagonistas, confesso-vos que estava ansiosa por folhear o segundo volume da série One Week Girlfriend.
Uma vez mais, Monica Murphy sabe fazer sofrer os seus leitores e elaborou uma narrativa complexa no trato das emoções, que espelha de forma fantástica dilemas sociais e afectivos, uma narrativa que voltou a desafiar as suas personagens ao limite, até ao seu desenlace dramático e intenso que fará acelerar o coração de quem lê.
Seguindo o mesmo estilo de narração do título anterior, intercalando as vozes de Drew e Fable, Vou Amar-te Para Sempre presta especial atenção ao protagonista masculino e ao seu passado complicado, perturbador, que continua a persegui-lo na actualidade impedindo-o de viver a sua juventude de forma normal e, principalmente, de ser feliz junto da mulher que acredita ser o amor da sua vida. Igualmente, também o mundo de Fable ameaça ruir a qualquer momento, com o seu universo familiar a complicar-se de dia para dia e devido ao seu estado emocional extremamente frágil depois da abrupta fuga de Drew. Assim, nesta continuação, o leitor vontará a encontrar momentos conturbados para estes intervenientes e, se por um lado existe esperança, ambos estão demasiado magoados e conscientes das muitas barreiras que terão de ultrapassar para encontrar a felicidade.

After 2 months since Drew left that awful but sweet letter letting Fable go, Fable still hasn't got her life back together. Her world is falling apart. She still works too many hours trying to make enough money for Owen and herself since her mom still doesn't give a crap about them. Then one night she gets offered a fabulous job at a hit new joint, The District. She gets better hours, better pay, and the owner, Collin, isn't too hard on the eyes either.
Drew hates what his life has become. He blames himself for losing the last two games of football. He believes he let his team down as quarterback. He needs Fable in his life but he had to let her go because she doesn't deserve a guy like him. A guy who did horrible things in his past. After his stepmom dropped the bomb on him regarding his little sister he knew he had to let Fable go.
After a chance encounter at The District, with Fable as Drew's waitress their are undeniable sparks and tension between the two. Drew realizes that Fable is what completes him and he isn't letting her go anymore. But he's going to have to try harder this time convincing Fable he is here to stay because she isn't ready for her heart to break a second time. She knows if Drew leaves her a second time she will completely be destroyed.
Okay... I don't even know where to start. I loved this book so much!! It was beautifully written. Finally Fable and Drew are together forever! I loved every single part of this book and yes even at the end when my heart stopped beating as I read those few pages. MARSHMALLOW! That one word has so much meaning between Drew and Fable it's unbelievable. I can't wait for the next book.
