I didn't like this one as much as Dairy Queen, but it was still good. I do think that DJ is not appreciated enough by her family, but then again, she never squawks and says this to her family. When the chips are down, you do what you have to do, no questions asked. That's what I like about her. I'll be curious to see if there are any more to come in this series.
Once again a great book with an intriguing storyline, just as enjoyable if not more than Dairy Queen.
not as good as the first book, but I still enjoyed the characters and the story.
Another re-read of this classic trilogy about a girl athlete in Wisconsin. I just adore this series. I wish Murdock had not started writing high fantasy. This is so much better.
Just fun and delightful. DJ is such a fun character and I love following her along in her high school shenanigans!
Would you give up something you loved for something you needed? When she injures her shoulder during football practice, DJ Schwenk has to deal with that issue and many more her junior year in High School. Should she continue playing football or save herself for Basketball? It doesn’t help that her entire team is counting on her or that her somewhat boyfriend plays for a rival team. They would rather not have to play against her ever again. When her brother gets caught spending the night at a girl’s house, her mom throws out her back. Things just go downhill from there. She is really having an off season. It would make anyone look at their life and pick out what is most important.

I wish that books that are sequels would make it perfectly clear that they are sequels from the beginning. That being said, I really liked this book. The story is about a girl who has decided to play football against her boyfriend. Football is in her family. Her brothers both play football for college teams. Everything is going well and then disaster begins to strike little by little. Will she prove strong enough to withstand it all? I probably would have read the first book if I would have known there was a first book to read. Too late now, I know what happens.
I read Ms.Gilbert's "Front and Center" before this one, so it was nice to have a little bit of a back story to everything. All in all I enjoyed the story, the conflicts and the resolutions to the conflicts the characters found themselves in. The only thing I have against this book, is how the main character DJ spoke,I was extremely annoyed every time she added something unnecessary such as "...He really didn't say that, I just added that part in there.." or the like. Other than that a good read. There needs to be a fourth book in my opinion. :)
