Very adorable, very Scandinavian. The art is pretty (though rougher than the style found in the Netflix series) and the stories are cute slices of surreal life. Hilda is plucky, kind, and thoroughly relatable. The Hildafolk series is great for children (and adults) who enjoy "Adventure Time," "Steven Universe," and "Gravity Falls."

I love Hilda stories! ❤️

3.5

Someone told me this was a graphic novel. It isn't really. It is a charming childre's story. There isn't much meat on the bones, but the bones are enjoyable. Bonus points for showing the connection between mother and daughter.

My two sons and I love the Hildafolk books! Hilda is a fierce and plucky little girl who always stays true to herself. She lives in Trolberg, a magical world of midnight giants, trolls, sprites, and the woodman. She has cool blue hair and is as empathetic as she is tenacious. She gets into wild adventures in her never-ending quest to help creatures big and small. The illustrations are magical and the comic book / graphic novel form, splendid. My sons and I rolled in laughter upon seeing an illustration of a small dog in “Hilda and the Bird Parade”. This book was precious! I loved the weird animals and creatures, especially twig the fox/deer thing. Interesting illustrations, good story, I will probably read the rest of the series. Highly recommend to elementary readers.

A++ for graphics and imagination and I would 100% give this a must read for the younger set. Me, as an adult was very lost.

3.5 stars. Adorable art, and I loved the weird Wood Man; I'd read a whole series dedicated to him. It's not 5 stars only because it's a bit too slight.

Whimsical, quick read. I really enjoyed the illustrations.
