This was not a bad story even though the pace was uneven an a lot of details were glossed over. I give this book 4-star, but it's really more like 3.5-star. I will probably continue with the series
This is one of the better "Big Guy and Lady Cop" books I've read.
This is the second book in a series and it does a good job of expanding the world of the first book while also sticking to the concept of "professional assassin solves CIA mysteries".
The kid has a smaller part in this one, but she's replaced with a female assassin who you spend a large part of the book wondering whether or not you can trust her.
It's a good conspiracy thriller and has a couple of great action sequences, like the farm and the... other farm actually. So many dangerous farms!
This is a lot of fun and I've already checked out the next book to listen to tomorrow during my commute.

Listened to the audiobook. An assassin going after an assassin. Enjoyed the twists and turns. Kept me listening and on the edge of my seat.
I picked up this book at the Miami Book Fair last year. I had no idea it was part of a series. I suspected it was part of a series due to a couple of references in the book. But the good thing is that I don't think the first book impacted following the plot of this book. It may have made certain aspects richer, but it's nice that there isn't a need to read them in order. Which is good, because I think I have another Will Robie book on my nightstand that is out of order with this one!
fast-paced
****Update below****
2017: This review is about the audiobook, not the print/electronic version. I have no idea how good/bad the plot, writing or pace was. I got less than one chapter in, heard the sound effects of gunshots and glass breaking and instantly returned it to Audible. Talk about taking you out of the moment.

2019: I wanted to read the danged book so I bought the Kindle version. I actually enjoyed it, especially without sound effects. There are a few facts that were completely implausible (no spoilers here), but enjoy the story and the ride and all will be right again.

Another great series character (Robie) from Baldacci. Fun, fast read. Keep 'em coming.
[bc:The Hit|15791154|The Hit (Will Robie, #2)|David Baldacci|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1361749502s/15791154.jpg|21512735]This second installment in the Will Robie series is just as good as the first! It's a little more tightly wound because this time Will's assignment is one of his own and he's not sure how to reconcile that. He's typically more than capable of getting it, getting his target and getting out without issue or feeling. This time it's a woman on his team, who does what he does, and he's questioning for the first time if his target is actually a bad guy. Very interesting, fast paced, yet still with the fun and wit you know from Will Robie. We also get some more Julie and Super Agent Vance!
This is one terrific book! Story was great, the characters were good, and the plot did NOT give itself away early. :-)
