This book was partly good but I cringed at so many things the characters said.
This is the second book in the series and I'm just as hooked on this series. Nix and Elle's first meeting is quite memorable. They are enemies at first, but once they get to know one another sparks fly. I loved the journey that is Elle and Nix. Nix is following the dream of another while. Elle is at a crossroads for her future. This book has plenty of laughs and feels. I teared up a few times towards the end. One thing that stood out to me is close relationship Nix has with his grandfather because I'm really close to my grandpa. I gobbled up this book. The characters are great. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series. The set up for it was awesome!

How was Elle the heroine of this story? She was such a bitter, vile harpy!
She made life decisions based on her desire to stick it to a cheating ex. She treated Nix like he just had to be a cheater too, painting him (and all athletes) with the same brush as her boyfriend from high school. She assumed the worst of him (and his roommates), and condemned him based on things she had no evidence of (and was largely wrong about). She had fits of anger, and threw tantrums any time she had to be around him. She was jealous and petty and uncharitable in how she viewed anyone who didn't hate him like she did.
This is the chick I'm supposed to want our hero to end up with? I don't think so. She didn't deserve a HEA! And Nix deserved better!

Sunshine and unicorns
Yet another delightful addition to the series, this book is like sunshine. Even though the main premise is hate to love, and both the hero and heroine have their dark moments. But we also see the amazing friendships getting stronger and more poignant, new additions to the group, and heavy foundation building for the next book, which is by far my most eagerly anticipated of the series.
Phoenix-Nix Russo, the responsible, serious dad of the group has had an explosive equation with the pink haired Elle next door since the second they met under less than ideal circumstances. And they’ve since been poking at each other. You gotta know how that story ends. It’s the journey that will give you heart eyes. I loved Nix right off the bat, with his sweet, sexy, respectful ways. I mean, the guy also cooks. Be still my glutton heart. Elle is prickly and cynical as life has taught her to be. So she can be annoying at times. Also, in this book too, the author doesn’t create as great a connection with the heroine as she does with the hero. And she needed more grovel at the end. But Jules is the most exciting character in the series by far and I have high hopes for her book.
What’s most important and sticks in the mind is, the spectacular fireworks and the sizzling chemistry and the warm fuzzies the whole FU group gives me with each book.

This felt a bit slower than the first book in the series for some reason, not sure if it actually was, but I still absolutely loved Elle and Nix. I just loved their dynamic. I also really loved Nix’s Gramps. A very cute, fun read.
