Arc Review! This book was absolutely phenomenal. I was hooked from the beginning. That cliffhanger did however make me want to throw my kindle since I do not have the next one! I NEED to know what happens! My adrenaline was pumping!

I love that this was more than just a dark billionaire romance. It had this mystery vibe as well where we are literally trying to solve what’s happening while watching the forbidden romance unfold.

I loved every moment of the ride! You will not be disappointed.

A couple of my favorite quotes:
“Her smile was timid and when my eyes dropped to her hands, they were shaking like butterfly wings in the wind. She was the brightest star in the entire room, and the one I would be most burned by if I touched it.”

“And if I can’t have heaven, I’ll settle for raising hell.”

I finished my ARC just in time for release day! This was such a fun read! The storyline sucked me in right from the beginning! This book has it all! Danger, suspense, mystery, steam and forbidden romance!

The tension between Rupert and Vivian is absolutely delicious. I love a good slow burn and this was done right! The pull they have towards each other and the way he calls her butterfly! My heart was breaking for them knowing their relationship is forbidden. This is my first forbidden romance and that shit hurts

This was the first book I have read from January James and I absolutely loved it. If you enjoy a little suspense and a slow burn with plenty of angst, then this is a must read! Vivian is a strong young woman, who has been taking care of her sister for a long time and ends up mired in the mystery of Isle of Crow. Rupert is the dark to Vivian's light and can't help but be drawn to her, even if it is a terrible idea while he is keeping secrets about what is really going on on the island. I loved the gothic feel, just the right amount of dark and disturbing to help with the twists in the story. The story kept me on the edge of my seat and I can't wait for book 2.

(ARC Review) HOLY CRAP. This book blew me away. The mystery behind The Isle of Crow kept me on the edge of my seat, I did not want to put this book down. And then there’s the forbidden romance! Ugh, it was perfect. Still swooning over Rupert Thorn.

Vivian takes a job on an island, the Isle of Crow, where some of the wealthiest families live because the island produces a drug that she hopes will help her sister. She meets Rupert Thorn, a member of the founding family for the drug. The story sees them working very closely together, while still maintaining their own secrets. This is the first part of a trilogy, so it does end on a cliffhanger.

Dark billionaire romance full of Secrets, Deception, Greed, Manipulation and the Ruthlessness of the richest elite.

The Isle of Crow is an elusive, private island that only the richest of the rich are allowed to inhabit. An island full of old money, and even older secrets.

The Thorn family is the family that runs the island and has decided to open it up for tours. Vivian took a job as the new tour guide and found herself thrust into a living nightmare by working side by side with Rupert Thorn one of the enigmatic Heirs of the Thorn fortune.

Rupert and Vivian had a enemies to lovers relationship that began with him h8ting her mere presence and her just trying to keep her head above water but somebody other than Rupert doesn't want her there and will go to any length to dispose of her.

What to expect in Jagged Thorns:

Guys. This book!!!! This is the first book I’ve read from this author, but it definitely won’t be the last…excuse me while I go through January James’ backlist and add every last title to my TBR pile.

Wow, Jagged Thorns was incredible — A delicious gothic forbidden romance with loads of passion and even more tension that had me in a chokehold from the very first chapter. I need more of Vivian and Rupert ASAP. This is the first book in the Thorn Trilogy and I’m already on pins and needles, anxiously awaiting the second installment.

It is SO beautifully written—the plot, the world building, the characters; all of it is perfection—chef’s kiss

3.5* - Rounded up to 4...

A very interesting plot, made better by NOT being set in the USA.

Vivian, and her "family" immediately grabbed my attention. Rupert took some warming up to, and I'm hoping we get to like him more through the rest of the series. I'm hoping he'll find a way to subvert the idiocy and pigheadedness of his family.

That said, the mystery and intrigue of this story is definitely way better than the romance in this story.

And the cliffhanger! Beautifully done. :D I'm excited to continue the story in book 2...

"I like it here. The Isle of Crow is beautiful. It deserves to be seen.

First things first, THAT CLIFFHANGER! Ugh. [a:January James|20464975|January James|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1634886863p2/20464975.jpg] you're torturing me! It cannot end that way!

Let's back up though. I can understand why Vivian applied for this job. It was what she felt she needed to do. So while yay for getting a job on this mysterious island, I can also imagine how difficult it was for her to leave home. Only to be thrust into this new location, this new job, and know no one. All this for one reason. Then there is Rupert. He is determined to push back as much as he is able to get away with. That is his focus. That whole married by 27 thing isn't even at the front of his mind. Stopping his brother, or at least slowing him down, is.

I really liked the instant connection that Rupert felt with Vivian. It was very hate to love, and I'm here for it. I love the mysteriousness of the island. I love how January had me hating Ossian early on. I'm intrigued by Minty. She seems like a good sidekick. I have many questions regarding the consortium. Okay fine, I just have many questions, and the consortium part is just one.

Now I will say that the first quarter of this book was a struggle for me. I get that a new world is being created, these characters need to be introduced, and the stage needs to be set. Yet at the same time it was a lot to get through. Once that was done though, or at least the majority of it was done, the book became really interesting. I found myself looking at all the details to try and figure out what was happening, as well as who could be behind it.

I need the next book as soon as possible, because I need to know what happens after that cliffhanger. That was intense, and I have so many questions!
