Sort of a ramble, but it’s short. It mixes art, film, and meditation, without diving deep into any of them.

Part memoir, part creative self help book, part pitch for transcendental meditation, all David Lynch. I do wanna hunt down a physical copy at some point but Lynch reads the audiobook and frankly that’s more than worth the price of admission. I will take a lot of this creative advice with me and, honestly? I’m not not sold on TM. And while I’m not one for platitudes and I could see many of the things Lynch says here being interpreted as such, his belief in a better, more peaceful world is so genuine that I don’t read it that way. As such, I’ll leave off with this one:

“We’re all supposed to get along. We’re supposed to have so much fun like puppy dogs with their tails wagging. It’s supposed to be great, living. It’s supposed to be fantastic!”

All too short, Lynch’s book is fascinating and generous.

I loved this book! It’s almost half about meditation and half about film making. I know he’s a proponent of TM and that it’s expensive to learn it. Obviously you can apply what he says to any meditation practice. It’s written in his quirky folky style so of that’s annoying to you, you might notice that. I really enjoyed it.
