Ahoy there me mateys!  This be a book three.  While I try to post no spoilers, if ye keep reading this log then ye have been forewarned and continue at yer own peril . . .

Book one was a popcorn book of awesome but book two didn't completely work for me.  However, I still wanted to read book three which ended up floating me boat.  These books are crazy and over-the-top and fun.  I don't normally find anything funny about meth use.  Well not until Teagan gets involved anyway!

If I thought Teagan was crazy in the other two books, she ups her game in this one.  The China Shop team is also fragmenting due to the stress and events of the previous books.  Each book could be read as a standalone but I recommend starting from the beginning because watching the character relationships evolve is fascinating.  This brings humanity into this otherwise unbelievable storyline.  And I happen to love all the characters.

I can't tell ye too much about the plot other than it involves super powers dealing with electricity, the L.A. river, a biker gang, fried chicken, the aftermath of the big earthquake, sabotage, and Teagan going rogue.  I can tell ye that I be excited for book four.  Especially after that ending.  Arrrr!

This really is shaping out to be quite the batsh*t series of late - it is crazy, fun, relatable and engaging at all the right levels. Teagen Frost as a lead character makes a bunch of questionable decisions that make the story all the more interesting

The book almost starts the same way as the last book with yet another kid with powers showing up disrupting Teagen's life as well as what remains of LA. But just when you think this is ground that is already well covered, things take a turn for the different. The kid turns out to be not psychotic as compared to book 2 and Teagen herself has grown as a character, while she stills makes questionable impulsive decisions, she does it with some amount of thought

Meanwhile events of the past 2 books have taken their toll on China Shop as well. Characters are beginning to chafe against their limits in different ways and this makes for some interesting storytelling choices. On the other hand, the big bad of the series have begun making overt moves to disrupt the status quo while trying to debilitate Teagen as well. The direction where the book is heading in makes it very interesting for the future of the series.

Fun, crazy, super fast narrative - this is shaping up to be quite a fun X-(Wo)Men story :)

PS: The initial 3/4 chapters of the book are just so much fun - the hopeless situations that Teagen gets into is quite hilarious and how she makes it even worse is all the fun

4.5 stars.

Solid 3.5. Action packed through and through, as the series has been, but it was one loooooong day with Teagan. I kept wondering if we’re ever getting anywhere with the School/other people with powers plot lines. Feels like it’s in the background of these LA heist shenanigans. Still, looking forward to book 4 after that cliffhanger.

This was a wild ride. Practically the entire book takes place in one 24-hour period and it is NONSTOP y'all. *I* was exhausted and had a headache by the end. Teagan would ALMOST get to a place to catch her breath for a minute, and I would almost hate to turn the page to see what Ford was going to do to her this time. Eat your wheaties for this one.

More bad decisions and another cliff hanger. Needs some character growth.
