I read Head Master Taurin, and wow! Holy hotness! Rose and Cooper, your typical high school sweethearts, until one night. A right of passage into a secret society, changes there lives forever, but not in the way you'd expect. This story is hot with a capital H. Definitely NSFW! Worth the read though.

* Review of Headmaster Taurin by Ella Fields.*

If you read Evil Love and wished Fern and Jude would have participated more in the debauchery of the secret society, this is the book for you! (If you haven't read it yet, don't worry! This can be read as a standalone novella.)

68747470733a2f2f73332e616d617a6f6e6177732e636f6d2f776174747061642d6d656469612d736572766963652f53746f7279496d6167652f2d4a36477577646e67684c5057673d3d2d3330303433383534362e31343663343532313563393565

Rose and Cooper are hopelessly in love high school seniors initiating into an ancient society their parents belong to. They've been looking forward to the day they would be offered entry into this secret elite world for an entire year, and when it finally happens, it changes their lives and their relationship forever.

You guys! This story is FUCKING HOT!!! Like grab your partner, vibrator, or your fingers will have to do hot! LOL Ella threw us right into the action, and I appreciate her being thoughtful like that. That being said, I could have read an entire fleshed out book about these two characters, their experience in the society, and the evolution of their relationship. I seriously wish that story existed somewhere. I would buy it in a heartbeat!

Ella Fields is one of the best romance writers out there. She is known for the insane angst in her novels and the intense emotions she's able to rip out of us all. This book isn't going to give you that usual range, but if you want something short and deliciously steamy, look no further! Grab an extra pair of underwear for after, and get to reading!

While Stories of September is sitting waiting for my reading pleasure, this review is for one of its stories, “Just for a Little While” by Fiona Cole. If you love a little forbidden romance, then you want to read this story. I gobbled it in a single sitting, and I was not disappointed. If I had to characterize it, it’s a little forbidden in the sense the Willem, Cole’s hero, is the step-brother of the heroine’s father. While Arabella and Willem share no blood, there is still the potential messiness of family relationships. Additionally, Arabella and Willem have a nice age gap further complicating their romantic feelings. Even more, initially, Arabella enrolls herself in Uncle Willem’s economics class, so Cole has thrown several daggers of forbidden at you which makes the story quite delicious if you love that trope as I do.

What I think I loved the most is Willem’s characterization. Going into it, I made the assumption that Willem would be a strong, domineering alpha-male. Instead, Cole has crafted him to be a perfect match for her Arabella and kind of a softie. And while Arabella needs to work on maturing a bit more, it never feels as though they aren’t suited for each other. It’s clear from the start that Willem and Arabella should easily find a happily-ever-after trotting the globe (which I hope they do).

I always forget how much I love novellas and short stories. They are bite-sized nuggets of romance that tug at your heart-strings, move the butterflies in your stomach, and steam your glasses in such a short space. And Fiona Cole’s “Just for a Little While” is perfect for all of those things.

A hot and steamy anthology!

I really enjoyed this anthology (well the stories I read) and found it was the perfect read to break up my TBR!!

Just For a Little While - Fiona Cole
This was typical Fiona Cole in the best way - a forbidden romance that was all kinds of HOT!! A "step-uncle/professor" romance was not was I expected but I couldn't put this one down and was sad when it was over!! Willem was HOT HOT HOT and I loved Arabella as well!

Mr Klein is Fine - Meghan Quinn
I loved that Lindsay - one of the side characters from Meghan's baseball series - was featured in this novella. And her main man was Gunner - a name that has been thrown around as well in the same series. This was a great read... with some HOT sex scenes and a surprise for Gunner I did not see coming. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let this become a full length novel!! I need more!

Headmaster Taurin - Ella Fields
Set in the Nightingale world from recent release Evil Love, this story was less about the Headmaster and more about Cooper and Rose... but I still enjoyed every minute! Ella manages to squeeze in some hot sex scenes, some personal discovery and growth for the characters and made me want more!!

Falling at First Sight 4 Star
Willow Winters
So two single parents...meeting up at a coffee shop on a Saturday afternoon.”
“Oh, the scandal
.”
A single mom and her son’s teacher spend a year pining over each before she finally agrees to a coffee date. Their sons are best friends, and they see each other nearly every day in a small town. But for whatever reason, it took her spilling his coffee for it to finally be the right time? And after a quick second date, they’re all ready to play house and enjoy happily ever after. I would have preferred this to be a full book. I didn’t get enough of Trent’s pining, or his dirty whispers.
8/10 Single Parents
6/10 Instalove
other works by the authors that I recommend:
All He’ll Ever Be (The Merciless series)

Just For a Little While 3 Star
Fiona Cole
For a forbidden love novella, this had so much more to say. Rest assured, Will and Arabelle were the “twice removed” kind of related. So if you were worried about the niece and uncle dynamic, rest assured. They’re basically just roommates. There’s plenty of sexual tension, teasing, flirting. But there’s also tons of learning, maturity, comforting, protectiveness. I think they’re “just for a little while” moments created a new book kink for me. Also, more authors need to include mirrors, and not just in bathrooms. Each chapter had the right POV. I just wish we had a little peek into how things evolved with her dad/his step-brother.

6/10 Forbidden Love
6/10 Forced Proximity

Mr. Klein is Fine 4 Star

This one was quick! Everything happened at once. If you’re looking to read the stand-alones with the side characters of this novella, it’s the perfect set up. I loved that the plot twist was just kinda tossed out there, like we were going to ignore it; that it wasn’t a big deal. What I really loved was while their sexual spark was dreamy, it wasn’t the main focus of the story. It was just one of the pieces of Gunner and Lindsay finding their way to each other one last time, for good.

The Fortune Teller 2 Star

If you still want me in a year, you find me at the Ferris wheel.”
This was so rushed. The ones before this didn’t feel like their 40ish pages. But this felt like its 20 pages. It started off smooth, and then we went on one of those super quick carnival rides that are never worth the tickets because it’s one loop around and then it’s over. I would have liked to see them go through their year apart. All the pining was missing! And that’s the best part of forbidden romances!

The Rochester Trilogy

Headmaster Taurin 5 Star
Ella Fields
I was not expecting that. This starts right out the gate! I would have loved this as a full book. Everything slower and detailed out. But it would have lost its guts. If you take away the glorious x-rated bits, it’s a story of two childhood best friends hopelessly in love, finding their footing with their sexual desires, and how that affects them as a couple, and as people. I’m glad those x-rated bits exist though! Being initiated into a secret society together, the headmaster, their bonds, their desires. It was so easy giving this one five stars.
9/10 Dirty Birdy
8/10 Forbidden Love

Over His Knee 2 Star
Jade West
This is a selfish 2 star. This isn’t a trope I enjoy. But, it’s Jade West, so my smutty eyes couldn’t look away. I don’t think the ‘love’ aspect was necessary for the story line. This wouldn’t have worked as a full novel.
6/10 Dirty Birdy
6/10 Forbidden Love
other works by the authors that I recommend:
Sugar Daddies
Hello Stranger

He Made Me Stay 3 Star
K. Webster
I wasn’t expecting this emotional story line! A sweet story about being saved. I’m so glad Kit found Jasper. And Jasper found Kit. I have goosebumps just thinking about it! I wish we got more of them though. (And thank you for waiting until they were both eighteen.)
7/10 Instalove
7/10 Tearjerker

The Painter 2 Star
Amelia Wilde
She’s painting some scene from her mind. I’m painting her, and she is alive beneath my hand.
This one gets right into it! No hesitation with the smut whatsoever! (Can’t say I’m upset about it either.) The classic story of teacher and student falling in lust for each other, and then giving into it over a canvas of wet paint. And then they run head first into clueless love.
7/10 Dirty Birdy
5/10 Forbidden Love

Dirty Little Secrets 3 Star
Trilina Pucci
Suddenly there’s an extra POV, and now the plural of Secret makes sense. This took a turn that I wasn’t ready for. “I want to give you one of my firsts too” probably wasn’t supposed to make me swoon as much as it did, but here we are. The swooning took down my guard because what followed took me by complete surprise. And maybe now I’m a little sad it’s only a novella...but then again...maybe not. If only I can pretend this was a different situation. I loved it otherwise.
7/10 Dirty Birdy
8/10 Forbidden Love

Fumbled Future 4 Star
Meagan Brandy
This just chucks characters at you the second it starts! I had to take a moment and mentally map everyone out for I kept going. Everyone needs friends who surprise them with their exes...NOT! As ridiculous as the plan is, I can’t help but root for its success! Not that it needed the help.
8/10 Dirty Birdy
8/10 Second Chances

I LOVE anthologies- I love getting snippets of worlds I haven’t read and the treat of revisiting worlds I have. Watching authors I love showcase their talents in shorter vignettes and getting the chance to read some authors that I haven’t read before. But, I must admit, I think this might be the BEST anthology I’ve ever read. Every single story sucked me in- each was well paced and had enough emotional center despite being short stories/mini novellas, and each one really beautifully showed off the talents of these authors. Not to mention- they are all SO SEXY.

Every single one is amazing- summaries of each below, but I especially enjoyed K Webster’s male-male story, Fiona Cole and Ella Fields kinky tales, and getting to revisit an old favorite story world of mine from Megan Brandy. Truly, this anthology is outstanding.

Just For A Little While by Fiona Cole: HOLY HOTNESS. I’m pretty much convinced no one writes sexy like Fiona Cole- and this shorty is intensely passionate with the age gap, forbidden flair that makes Fiona Cole one of my go-to one clicks. We’ve got a “uncle” and niece who also happen to be student and teacher, and I am here for this delightfully taboo and steamy story. Willem is so delicious- if you like Fiona heroes, she’s for you. Alpha, possessive, dominant. For a short, this one has plenty of build up and SCORCHING chemistry- and well as good emotional connection. Willem and Arabella lit my kindle on fire. One of my tops in the anthology for sure.

Headmaster Taurin by Ella Fields: This one takes place in the Evil Love world and is SO kinky. Rose and Cooper are being initiated into Nightingale, and we know that’s gonna be a mind F. Headmaster Taurin, who we meet in the prior book, plays a naughty role in their unusual initiation rites. This one is SO sexy, deviant, and so naughty. And the characters are just fantastic- especially Rose- she’s sweet but sexually curious, and I loved her openness. And the men? Gird your ovaries and your heart- they are swoony and sexy. Another top read- and if you are new to the Nightingale world, this may inspire you to dive in.

Fumbled Future by Meagan Brandy: I have been DYING to go back to the Fumbled Hearts world and Megan has delivered. Mia and Austin’s second chance story is sweet and swoony, with a dash of steam. I fell hard for Austin- and Mia is so endearing, sweet but spicy. This was adorable, and I’m now craving a Fumbled Hearts world reread. (if you haven’t read those books of MB’s- do it! I love them as much as Brayshaw)

The Fortune Teller by Skye Warren and Amelia Wilde: What a pair! I love the intrigue of the fortune telling carnival setting. This is dark and sexy- with that forbidden and carnal flair that had me all hot and bothered over Theo and Brian. More student-teacher yumminess.

Over His Knee by Jade West: Jade is one of the best erotic writers out there- her books always light me on fire- just the right balance of heat and kink. This story is a great showcase of her talents. We have some headmaster/naught school girl kink here- we know Jade loves some daddies!

Mr. Klein is Fine by Meghan Quinn: We have our characteristic MQ athlete in Gunner, an ex baseball player who desires sweet Lindsey, but they’ve only ever explored hookups. This was sweet and sexy, with that MQ humor, angsty, and heart. This one had me thirsty for more.

Falling at First Sight by Willow Winters: Cute and sweet- two single parents who just can’t resist each other. This was a delight.

He Made Me Stay by K. Webster: KW gives us some MM loving, and I live for her MM work. And wow, this one got me in all my feels- like WOAH- which is some powerful story telling for a short read. Jasper is in a dark place after the death of his twin, until the shining light of Pollyannay Kit crashes into his world. No one does the MM angst, sexiness and emotions like K Webster. This one shredded me and filled me with such joy, love, and hope. KW remains the undisputed queen of MM romance, and this is one of my favs in the whole anthology.

The Painter by Amelia Wilde: More teacher-student deliciousness- this time with a painter and his protege. This is sexy, dark, and yummy.

Dirty Little Secrets by Trilina Pucci: Ava, Holt, and Jackson are HOT HOT HOT. Set in her Hillcrest Academy world, these two have a hot night and the chemistry burned me up, and it definitely moved Filthy Little Pretties up to the top of my TBR.

This is a wonderful collection of stories by 10 different authors. Some are a more light-hearted and/or humorous read, and others are a little darker. There is also a good chance you'll need tissues for at least one. All have some steam to them, some more than others, and some a little more dirtier than others. They all feature students and/or teachers. Plenty of 'forbidden.' This is a great way to get a little taste of an authors work if you are unfamiliar with them. If you are familiar with them, then they are like little bonuses, since most (if not all) the stories are spin-off of sorts from series' already written, so you may see some familiar faces. I haven't read from all the authors before, but from the ones I know, you can dive into these books without have any knowledge of the authors previous books. (Basically, they can be read as a standalone.) I've enjoyed each and everyone one of the stories included in this bundle. The entire book itself is fairly lengthy since it is 10 books in 1, (I think it's almost 600 pages,) but it reads quicker than you think since each story is a short story/novella. Due to the sexual content and some of the subject matter included, I'd say this collection is suitable for mature readers.

I read Just For A Little While by Fiona Cole and Uncle Willem and Arabella were absolutely perfect for a rainy afternoon. Plenty of taboo with the age gap - pseudo uncle - student and teacher bits of forbidden. I loved Arabella's sense of adventure and whimsy and Willem's hot alpha growly dirty talk! Definitely a HOT must read!

Just for a Little While by FIONA COLE

Such a great short story; one with just a hint of taboo and plenty of heat.

Arabella and Uncle Willem are hot. hot. hot. Their story is shrouded in forbidden temptation with Arabella and her father's best friend, lovingly known as Uncle Willem. Join these two as they navigate forced proximity, jealousy, and desire.

For as short as this one is, it sure packs a punch. Fiona Cole delivers yet again with temptation, angst, and a HFN ending.

"With every step, I knew with certainty that this was a mistake. With every step, I knew I didn't care. It would be like everything else. I could plead insanity. Just for a little while."
