Such a sweet book!! So many things in here I would highlight or mark if I had a paper book. Helen is recently divorced and decides to go on a wilderness adventure challenge for three weeks. On her journey, she spends time with her brothers best friend, her guide, and the group also along with the challenge with her.
“The things we remember are what we hold on to. And what we hold on to becomes the story of our lives.”
“Getting what you want doesn't make you happy... Having doesn't make you happy: appreciating does; Happiness is more about appreciation than acquisition.”
“But the things we remember are what we hold on to, and what we hold on to becomes the story of our lives. We only get one story. And I am determined to make mine a good one.”

I saw the cover and read the words "wilderness survival course" and was deceived into thinking this was a book for me. I was willing to overlook the tired divorcee-finds-herself trope (no disrespect to Cheryl Strayed) for what I hoped would be vivid descriptions of rolling hills covered in tamaracks and pine. Alas, that is not what I got.
What this book needed:
- more descriptions of snow-capped mountains and untamed forests
- a clearer summary/genre (this is a romance for those, like me, who missed that fact.)
What this book needed less of:
- Descriptions of women complaining that they've had to leave their makeup behind
- Descriptions of women only going on a wilderness survival course to "get skinny"
I'm sure this would be a great book for a romance fan. I am not a romance fan.

That must have been some kiss! It was cute but I was not a fan of the insta-love. Still unanswered questions after epilogue.

This books wasn't great. I did see the movie and enjoyed it, but the book just didn't capture my attention. It was a bit boring and predictable. A large section of the book takes place before they even get camping, which I felt was unnecessary. It did have some interesting parts when they were in the wilderness, but the ending was super cheesy.
