I got bored with this. The last one having no basketball was fine because I knew going in that they were both agents. This one HAS a NBA player and there is no actual basketball. I wound up skimming the end and all the epilogues that came with it. A sports romance with no actual sport is not for me.

If I could give this book more stars, I would. Kennedy Ryan's words are poetic and emotional. They pull at my heartstrings and don't let up until I am done reading the story. This book was absolutely stunning. The depth and creativity of the story and the characters just blows me away. I am in awe of Kennedy's writing.
Kenan and Lotus are some of my favorite characters I have read. I love the way their strength and vulnerability are both balanced so perfectly. They are complex and their personalities and stories are so well developed. They are real and relatable and that is one of my favorite things about this book.
Kennedy never disappoints. Every single story I have read from her has left a mark and completely stolen my heart and I can't wait to read what she has in store for us next.

Divorced. Single dad. Traded to a losing squad.
Cheated on, betrayed, exposed.
My perfect life blew up in my face and I'm still picking up the pieces.
The last thing I need is her.
A wildflower. A storm. A woman I can't resist.
Lotus DuPree is a kick to my gut and a wrench in my plans
from the moment our eyes meet.
I promised myself I wouldn't trust a woman again,
but I've never wanted anyone the way I want Lo.
She's not the plan I made, but she's the risk I have to take.
A warrior. A baller. The one they call Gladiator.
Kenan Ross charged into my life smelling all good, looking even better and snatching my breath from the moment we met.
The last thing I need is him.
I’m working on me. Facing my pain and conquering my demons.
I've seen what trusting a man gets you.
I. Don't. Have. Time. For. This.
But he just keeps coming for me.
Keeps knocking down my defenses and stealing my excuses
one by one.
He never gives up, and now...I'm not sure I want him to.

I loved this audiobook so much! Everything about Hook Shot is perfect, the pace, the plot and of course Kenan and Lotus’ relationship.

Hands down the best of this series. I have loved them all but this book was magic. Since I've been a little girl, I have been a firm believer in magic. So, to have this book delve into the metaphysical side of things made my heart happy.
Mind blowing characters, storyline, and filled with more emotions than my heart could hardly handle. There is a reason that this author is one of the best out there. Pretty sure this is my favorite yet of anything that she has written. That says a lot because this author is a master wordsmith and all of her work is sublime.

Tropes and themes:
- single dad
- age gap
- he is obsessed with her
- sports romance (basketball)
- slow burn
- dual PoV
- Check TWs! (not as heavy as book 1 though) </i>
I've been excited for Lotus' story ever since she first appeared in Long Shot, and Kennedy Ryan did NOT disappoint. Lotus is by far my favorite FMC of this series. She is just someone special to me. I think though, compared to the first two books I was not as tempted to inhale the book in one day. It is more of a comforting than an angsty read, and I mean no disrespect by saying so, I relished that. However, there are obstactes the main characters have to overcome. Lotus' past is heartbreaking, even from her cousin's (Iris') point of view, and even more so through her eyes. She is so strong for searching for help to learn to deal with it. But Kenan's story is so very interesting as well, and heartbreaking in a different kind of way.
