This an enjoyable story. I like Mitch Rapp -his story is compelling & interesting & fairly plausible. I will definitely read more in the series.
This novel details the initial activities of Mitch Rapp and also gives insight to Stan Hurley.

This is the second book Mitch Rapp book I have read. I read a new version of The Transfer of Power that came out the end of last year. It was really good so I wanted to read the others in this series. This one is a prequel where we find out how Mitch Rapp started, so it seemed liked a good one to read even though it is number 11 in the series. It just really did not go into enough background about him and his life before. I was expected may be some more about how he felt when his girl friend died and what drove him to becoming an assassin. This book was disappointing. I will try another in this series since The Transfer of Power was so good.

The story and Flynn's writing style was very good. I'm hesitant to read another of his books, simply because of the extremely poor editing. Shame on Atria Books for publishing something with so many errors! There were a few times I had to reread parts to try to make sense of them. I mean, he crossed his left left over his right? How does that make it to publishing with no one noticing?
I feel that Flynn did a great job with the story and character development. His strength as a writer gets shadowed by the amount of errors. I'm not kidding, I counted 21 errors, plus a few more where the beginning of a quote wasn't capitalized. 21! I understand that mistakes happen, but this is an unacceptably large amount. In the end, the lack of proofreading and sub-par editing almost made me give up on this book.

Fun book, I got into it more at the end, but I'm in no hurry to continue the series. we'll see if that changes.
