Not a typical John Grisham -novel, but very enjoyable and easy to read.
I gave a book about football 4 stars?! Crazy. But it was surprisingly good and I really enjoyed all the descriptions of Italy and Italian culture. The story moved along nicely and the characters were well written.

I don't know what I expected from best-selling thriller author John Grisham's Playing for Pizza but it was not - this. Playing for Pizza is an excuse to praise Italy's food, drink, and historical marvels under the guise of a fluffy bit of fun. If it was not the inspiration for the TV series Ted Lasso, it could have been.
Having just visited Bologna and Parma, I did enjoy the Italian setting. I found the romantic plot lines unsatisfactory, and the sexism in this one is real.

I thought I’d give this a chance, even though I have no interest in football. Sweet story, quick read.
A pleasant change of pace from the hard-to-read Dickens. From the detailed descriptions of the Italian feasts to the rough and rowdy Italian football, Grisham helped his readers to feel like they were living the story right alongside Rick Dockery.
