It breaks my heart to rate a Brontë book with 2 stars, but this book was unbearable.

Disappointing after Jane Eyre, but then again anything would be. This is not romantic, it's more a series of observations from a young, inexperienced professor navigating a new social world. I may re-read it, but it's not something I would heartily recommend.

Has elegido la industria e industrial serás. ¡Mira!».

Enjoyed this read! It surprised me how well Charlotte Bronte's main character resonated with me with her being a woman posing as a man to write the mind of a man. A lot of profound moments of romanticism, however keep your French-English dictionary close by! You'll need it!

Driven by a recent desire to read all things Bronte (mostly in search of those nuggets of gothic horror), I ended up reading this even though its not the type of story I'd usually go for. It's clear that this is one of Charlotte Bronte's earlier works as the plot is not as sophisticated, although there are some humourous moments. And I'll give her points since this story is still relevant - it reminds me of the stories of recent university graduates who don't know what to do, so they go abroad to teach English and sometimes come back with a spouse.
