It was just ok for me.
The pacing was slower and the story less engaging than the first. I was happy to see lots of growth with the characters, but there was some added drama that seemed to not really be fleshed out- especially toward the end.

I still love this author, but this wasn’t a favorite.

JOSH JOSH JOSH JOSH

As always I want to give this slice of life more than 5 stars. How can I put into words how much this story meant to me? I don't have a fucking clue...but I am going to attempt to do that. Hold please..

Josh and Becca's story was more than a love story...it was a life story. Chaz, dad, mom and all the surrounding players surrounded the heart of the story and brought more life to it...shining moments that made me laugh...cry...cuss and throw my GD firetrucking kindle across the room (carefully of course) The moments that life bring everyone told in technicolor through the words of an author that doesn't see her importance in the literary world as she should. Her words cut through everything. They slay. Rebuild. Make you swoon. Heart skip a beat. Cry. Throw a tantrum. Yet through all of the emotions, all of the absolute magic you are immersed in. The lives of the characters written matter. They matter above all else. Dinner for the kids. Bathroom breaks. Nothing else matters except this fictional world that you completely forget isn't real. This life experience will forever live in my heart..my soul and my favorite shelf FOREVER. So from the bottom of my heart...thank you Jay McLean and keep writing friend. Your words mean everything.

This was the perfect ending to this duology. Even if I spent almost the entire book crying my eyes out. I don't really know why I expected anything different at this point, but there you have it.

In Coast we get the conclusion of Josh and Becca and Tommy's story. How the come together and fall apart again and again and the lives of the people around them.

Jay McLean makes you care about everyone from Josh to the crazy church lady. And there's so much angst. So many broken pieces and broken people and I love it all so very much.

"If I am the land and Josh is the sea, Tommy is the shore that completes us."

COAST!!!!
This book! I can't even say how much I loved to coast!

Kick push left my heart broken...
Coast picked all the pieces together and glued them. It was a slow process, but totally worth it

I thought I wouldn't cry while reading this book.
For me, the beginning was kind of slow because I wanted to see Becca and Josh - and, of course, Tommy - together.
But, hey! This is Jay Mclean. Before she gives you what you want, first she'll slowly break your heart. Piece by piece. She's a genius of breaking hearts.
And it was exactly what she did.

I was a mess. My heart hurt so much and I couldn't put this book down. (side note: I re-read Kick, push and went head in Coast, so I was an ugly mess!).

Part III and IV are forever in my heart.
Then, the epilogue!!!

This is an amazing story written by an amazing writer.

It was more than a boy falling for a girl. It was a story of second chances, of trying to make things right for those who matter the most. It was about sacrifices. About being there for those who were there for you.

Josh, Becca, and Tommy's story will be forever in my heart.

In all ways.
For always.

What a beautiful, emotional story. After Kick Push I couldn't wait for Coast. It is all a reader could wish for.
And Tommy... this little bud... he will steal your heart.

Oh man I loved it!

A great follow up to Kick Push!

Perfect ending!

I love this story so much. Josh, Tommy, Becca, and Chaz - learning to coast through the challenges of life. I loved the first book, but could not have imagined a better ending. The feels!

5++++++ Emerald Eyes Stars!!

“His touch is like fire. Sweet, tortuous flames setting off too many emotions. I struggle, and I fight, and I fight some more, to not move away, to not fear his touch. But I fail. Because I’m Becca Owens–a broken girl. And he’s Josh Warden–the boy who broke me.”

“She made me feel weightless, feel free, feel airborne. So, I kicked, and I pushed, and for the past year, that’s all I’ve been doing because it didn’t feel the same and I knew in my heart that without her, I’d never be able to coast.”

Coast was one of my most anticipated reads of 2016 and I have to tell you, it does not disappoint. If I could rate this book more than 5 stars, I would rate it a million.

When we last left off with Becca and Josh, our hearts were broken and devastated. We were left with one brutal cliffhanger; hoping and praying that there would be another book. That our questions would be answered and our hearts healed. So, when I heard about Coast, I was over the moon. I was beyond excited. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. But, I have to tell you, I wasn’t prepared. Yes, I knew that my emotions were about to be taken for a ride, but I had no idea just how much this book was going to effect me. When I picked up Coast, it was if no time had passed at all. All my emotions and feelings from Kick, Push came flooding back. I was lost and totally consumed by Josh and Becca’s story. Their story, so incredibly well written. Their emotions, so palpable, it felt like they were my own and their story became a part of me.

There’s not much that I can say about Coast, because I refuse to spoil it for you. All I can tell you, is get ready. Coast is going to take you on a ride. It is going to pull at your heart and frustrate the hell out of you. It is going to make you laugh one minute and cry the next. It is going to make you swoon and I mean you will swoon so hard for Josh Warden. It is going to make you fall in love and believe in second chances. But, most importantly, this story is going to make you FEEL.

Jay McLean has blown me away and completely knocked it out of the park with this one. My heart and emotions did not stand a chance. My emotions are still all over the place and it is the best feeling in the world. This book blew my expectations out of the water and have left me speechless. Even now, as I’m writing this review, I am struggling. Struggling to find the words, to make you see and understand just how truly special this book is. This book is everything and I honestly could not have asked for a better ending of Josh and Becca’s story.

I don’t know what else to say, other than I loved this book. Coast is EVERYTHING. It is everything and more. The writing is just amazing and spellbinding. It will take on the best, most unforgettable journey and in the end, it will leave you with a smile on your face and the happiest of tears in your eyes. This is definitely one of my top reads of 2016. Fans of Jay McLean, you are not going to want to miss this one!
