Very cute Sapphic book. Love that is based around an author and reader an book owner... adds to the vibes in a great way.

DNF'd at around 15%. It feels like a paint by numbers romance, and is very slow to start. It has great potential but I don't feel like it delivers what it promises so far. Also feels like a straight woman writing WLW, so they're relying on WLW romance tropes to carry it instead. Author could totally be queer, but seeing as she's written straight romance all the way up until now, I'm making an assumption, which probably makes an ass out of me, but whatever.

... I just don't care.
Even if I got it for free, I'm not going to sit down and finish a book I feel absolutely nothing for.

I feel like this could have been okay, but the writing felt stilted, the characters bland, and the chemistry forced. While I was reading, I kept thinking of all the books I'd read that did these things better and then I just wanted to read those instead.

I wish I liked this, even just a little, but I have 0 interest in pretending I do.

I really wanted to like this, since I am a lifelong fan of You’ve Got Mail. However, by trying to address the whole problem of love interest putting our heroine out of business, she made it worse. Making Jane the landlord who literally wrote Rosie’s eviction letter is worse. So much worse. At least a business rival is sexy; landlords are problematic, and that’s before you take into account the gentrification. I would’ve been heartbroken to see the whole building torn down to build yet another skyscraper.

The romance felt stilted as well, and the characters tried so hard for maturity that the book lost most of its flow. This was wasn’t for me.
