I knew this was going to be a challenging read before I started. I looked up modern interpretations of the text in advance and still didn't feel fully prepared. Large portions of the book make no sense unless you're intimately familiar with the political context it was written in. If you haven't read anything by Lenin yet, go with State and Revolution first then Imperialism, then maybe some of his other writing before this. You should definitely come back to What is to be Done eventually for important lessons on revolutionary organizing. I would strongly recommend finding modern articles or podcasts covering the book as well to get most out of it.

Re-read. I learned much about organization again. Lenin was really that guy, we need to root ourselves in this type of ideology. Revolution is not about feel good politics or waiting or being reckless. Revolution is a careful historical process that an end goal: overthrow of the bourgeoisie and all that entails. Become professional revolutionaries, it is not the time to despair. Pick up the struggle, agitate, organize, and educate.

one of the less exciting works ive read so far from lenin, just gets too caught up in newspaper bickering but the overall points are solid as usual.

History, for better or worse, is made by those who never give up.
