I forgot that it ended like that and I was starting to tear up. Daja had good character development in the book and I looking forward to re-reading all the other books.

This is my favorite book in the series so far! I like the conflict, the new setting, the antagonistic Yarrun... It was hilarious to see a character named Polyam (which my brain constantly corrected to polyamory), but her character was fascinating and very serious. Daja's struggles to be recognized by other Traders were poignant, and I loved the infuriating moments when they refused to listen to her even in times of crisis.

One of my reservations with the first two books was the style of narration, which constantly jumps from one character to another. It made me question why each installment was called "[Character]'s Book," when they share relatively equal footing, aside from some larger thematic resonance. But it occurred to me while the characters were trying to untangle their magic in this installment that the narration style reflects that plot point. Just like Tris, Briar, Sandry, and Daja's magic is woven together into a single tapestry, so too are the chapters structured in such a way that no single character stays in focus the entire time.

I am looking forward to the fourth and final installment in this series, although I can't imagine how it will wrap everything up. The main overarching conflict seems to be relationship-based and centered around the kids' magic being tied together. Still, I enjoy the act of reading these books a lot, so I assume that the ending will be fun to read, if nothing else.

This was FANTASTIC!!! Daja is probably my favorite out of the 4 children, so I loved this one so much. The ending was so gripping and made me tear up!! Really enjoying listening to the Fullcast audio books with these.

Along with some really cool and awesome side effects of having their magic weaved together, some not-so-great combinations start wreaking havoc while the foursome is trying to help their teachers deal with a drought and fires. The story takes us into the wider world of Emelan beyond the Winding Circle temple and delves into the deeper backgrounds of our characters. I really thought it was brilliant and enhancing to include the science of how forest fires are a necessary part of natural ecosystems. The children start to really learn about the responsibilities of power and growing up.

As with the others, this was wonderfully nostalgic. I loved these books as a kid and I love them now. This one was actually good, and the characters grew in depth and complexity. I’m so glad I’m re-reading these!

This was my favorite of the set so far. I love Daja's side story, and I love to see how the four are progressing with their magic, and what it means to each of them. I
