i love how deeply I fell in love with Maude's character! She's such a free-spirited person, you forget that Harold is in love with an 80 year old woman.

Not gonna lie, I cried at the end.

Wow. What a hugely unexpected, darkly comic novel. Apparently this was a great movie too. It certainly felt very cinematic as I was reading it.
The novel has a dated but offbeat charm as it explores the tension between youthful nihilism and unshakable optimism. Harold stages elaborate fake suicides to provoke a reaction from his indifferent mother, while Maude gleefully steals cars, rescues trees and teaches Harold how to truly live.  Then the relationship boldly shifts from friendship to romance.
for all that this is a fast paced entertaining read, I just wanted the writing to have a bit more heft to it. But it was a delightfully bizarre read.
The narrator was superb.

This is probably the first time that there's a tie with Books vs Movies. Seriously, there's no deviation. The story is a perfect mirror of each other. If you want a nice quick read of of bizarre romance and black morbid humor, then this is for you.

Harold is 19, Maude is 79. What is age other than a number?

I’m not a big fan of novelizations, but when I learned Harold and Maude was based on a play and later novelized after the film (and by the screenwriter!), well, I had to read it. It reads like a novelization, but if you’re not familiar with the movie I don’t think you could tell, if somehow that all makes sense. It’s really beautiful and you get some motivations of Harold and Maude that you just can’t get in a movie. Even knowing the ending, I teared up. It’s really well done.

Me he reído bastante porque humor negro a tope. Muy bien
