This play strikes me as such a challenge to mount onto a stage effectively, for both the actors and the directors. The play itself is filled with an intense richness of emotion, and I absolutely adore the lack of exposition being substituted instead for the situations we find these characters in and their relationships.

I would enjoy Russian theatre much more if I could straighten out the who's who before the 4th act. As it is, I'm too distracted by the 5 different names each character has to be able to pay more than passing attention to the plot.
