Omg! I think I loved Declan's lil anxiety ridden self the most. I don't know how to put it into words. I loved Declan and Elle together and separately. Loved the story and storyline. I left this series convinced of two things: there is somebody for everybody and you just need to find your person and that I need the physical copies of these books for my at home library.
This is my first time reading a book from this author, sort of. I got the book when it was first published and didn't really like it. So I DNF'd it. Fast forward til now when I forget that I'd started it in the past until I quickly realized I'd read some of it and didn't like it π but I told myself o was gonna read it and once I got over whatever little mental roadblock I had with this book I really liked it. I loved Dymon's mean self. And I loved Quinci's feisty personality. I loved them and their exploits together. The characters were all vastly different yet tied in so well together. Story was cohesive and flower well. Didn't like Derek, Fiona, Jasmine or Dymon's mom. But now I'm ready for the second part.
This book was GOOD!!!! The storyline was so interesting and different. It kept me engaged from page one. I loved Charlie, Jirah, Mayola and Leonie. Absolutely hated Payne, Chrissy, Tasia and Lyric. I loved the writing and the overall development of the story and the character. It was so well written and it read like it could be a television series honestly. This was a great piece of art. Bit Charae never lets me down. And she just keeps getting better and better. Her growth as an author is beautiful to experience in real time.
I'm not sure if I've ever read a book by this author but I like it. This was a nice, quick, fast paced read. It had a good storyline with a diverse cast of characters. Most of the characters were likable. I'm still on the fence about Chop. He's a lot annoying π Now onto part 2.
This book was fast paced and interesting. I liked the storyline although it did seem like the transitions weren't that seemless. I'd get confused over what character was telling the story or even who liked who in the beginning bc the women were described as looking like Erica Dixon & Mash Doll but never quite explained who looked like who in order to follow the story. Kantos & Katos were kinda weird. I'm not sure how I feel about them. Baylin, Amber, Jerald and Sanai's mom all worked my nerves and I need to know what will happen next. Oh and my little con was the author added "ed" to a lot of words. Maybe that's just how they talk in Memphis though. Bc she said "fitted" and "hurted" more than a lot when she could've easily said "he hurt my feelings" instead of "he hurted my feelings" or "the outfit fit me like a glove" instead of "the outfit fitted me like a glove. Easy mistakes to make and I don't hold that against her bc that could just be the way ppl in Memphis talk.
This is my kind of horror! I'll preface this with over the years I've tried really hard to find horror written by black authors that weren't rooted in some sort of trauma, mainly slavery. But this book here is just straight to the point horror and I love it! Midway in as I was explaining to my husband about the book I asked him if he'd heard of children being born in storms. Bc ppl tend to be superstitious around rain/storms for weddings but are they that way for births? Bc Leo's entry earthside was a doozy. And that lil child and his backpack scared the mess outta me π I was so scared and concerned for Craven throughout the book. I just knew whatever was gonna happen it was gonna be bad. But Paul and what he did shocked me the most. Bc what was in that daggon diary!?!? And Claire I somewhat want to hold her responsible for this but I know in my β€ of β€s Pharoah pulled a Jedi mind trick and whispered these thoughts into her head. For all I know he could be the real reason behind her not being able to have a baby bc Leo was supposed be in their lives. Idk! But what I do know is Leo is a psychopath. And this needs to be a movie. This was my first time reading this author's work and it will not be the last.
4.75 I believe this is a ntm author and I'm really liking her style of writing and storytelling. This book was very good. The characters were likeable. All except for Tandem & I man I aka Prince Cole and Lady Lingo. She was just stuck on st*pid and Tandem just didn't want to lose. He knew he fumbled and couldn't handle it. I absolutely loved Channing though. He was such a good guy and raised well. He was a perfect match for Rhythm.
This book was good. I did NOT expect a lot of the twist and turns in here at all! I loved Lincoln, Nikki, Iesha, Joey, Jimmy and Nick. Mary tried to grow on me but it's still FDB! Ugh! Shelley, Will & Bumpy...the blind leading the jealous. Just a pack of envious idiots on some the enemy of my enemy crap. They all deserved everything they got. Even Mickey. Bc she was jealous of her sister. Now, who I feel bad for is Sasha and Jimmy. They ain't have nothing to do with nothing and just were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
