Following two girls from age 6 into their late teens and while it was immensely slow to start, it had complex and fleshed characters that I enjoyed reading about

The vignettes were reflective and well written, but never really seemed to go anywhere.

While the art style was not for me, it did grow on me by the end. The pacing was super fast and I would've loved to sit with the family dynamic a little more, but immigrant family themes of coming together always pull at my heartstring

Read it because it's a classic, but it was so slow and long. Conversations between characters tended to wind around subjects while saying nothing.

Definitely a read the content warnings book. I wish we had more time to sit with her because it felt like she just decided to get better. The passage of time was rather quick.

A very London book, glad I read it while I'm in London. Really enjoyed the under/overworld and it felt like Supernatural (the show)

Understanding the context of the 70's and the general thought behind being gay, this book was a little rough with the toxic ways that Ben showed "love", but I love the raw way that he grappled with understanding his sexuality and love of Ronny. The characters were emotionally complex and I wanted to protect these stupid idiots. Definitely read the cw's, there's a lot of strong language

I didn't really find the characters loveable and while that's not immensely important, I also had a hard time justifying Marlin's actions by the end and the reasoning behind it didn't really make much sense compared to his actions. Edwina's general thought process and need to pigeon hole her partner was also exhausting as we flip through her memories.
