Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers by Dane Calvin Ortlund
5.0
Wow! This book really made me stop and examine how I view the Father and the Son’s character and affections towards me, a sinner! This book portrayed the core of who God in Jesus is, his unending, steadfast mercy, and love! I was so encouraged by the love of Christ and have a new assurance to access the throne of grace with confidence!! Grab a copy and pray that the Lord melts your heart how is compassionate and gentle love towards you!

Do You Believe?: 12 Historic Doctrines to Change Your Everyday Life by Paul David Tripp
4.0
The majority of us fall in one of two camps: either we obsess over doctrine and are doctrine-smart but lack the application of them into our daily living OR we believe how we live is the most important and that doctrine is only for those in seminary or the pastors. But neither of these are correct approaches, what we believe and our understanding of doctrine impacts the way we live, and it should!! Our doctrine and the way we live come hand in hand!
This is such a wonderful and practical book that will remind you, or introduce you, to the 12 doctrines of the Christian faith and will help you understand how these change your life day to day!
This is a very helpful book for both new believers that want to understand the doctrines that shape the Christian lives and for mature Christians who need to be reminded of the foundations of their faith!

Becoming by Michelle Obama
4.0
This was a good and enjoyable read! Michelle's style is insightful, funny and portrays her sincerest humanity. She does not attempt to convey herself as perfect, but takes a very raw approach as she narrates her journey from the South side of Chicago to the White House. In particular, I was able to relate to her ongoing struggle of balancing family (motherhood), and her job and role as a First Lady, and was encouraged by her example.
Old Made New: A Guide to the New Testament Use of the Old Testament by Gregory R. Lanier
5.0
In his book, Old Made New, Greg Lanier gives us a thorough but accessible explanation of how these promises of the OT are fulfilled in Christ, and how the NT writers use the OT to interpret the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ!
Dr. Lanier explains a 3-step method in which he shows you how to identify that a NT author is using OT Scripture, challenges you to stop and explore the Old Testament passage, and then see how it’s “remixed” in the New Testament. He does this by introducing you to this 3-step method and provides plenty of examples of how to use it as he dissects the topics of the Old Testament and the Gospel, Jesus and the Church.

Four Hundred Souls: A Community History of African America, 1619-2019 by Ibram X. Kendi

Very very insightful. Eye-opening. Interesting. Educational. Inspiring. Informative.
This book recounts the story of Black America. A MUST read book for everyone! We are missing this side of the story from all of our history books and the authors of these books present us with the story of Black America from their own voices! I was so challenged, learned so much and so grateful that someone took the time to write the history that has been missing from our text books!
