This is a sweet retelling of Tangled/Rapunzel. It is uncomplicated and lovely. If looking for an adorable romance that includes a little drama, but not overly tense or distressing, and redemption, for both MCs, this is the story to read. I enjoyed it a lot and it is perfect as a palate cleanser after a deep/sad book.

Yes, there is a lot of misogyny in this book. Yes, there is a fair amount of sexual violence represented. Yes, it is a thriller from a Japanese author. It is also a very interesting story of women taking power back from men and overcoming their circumstances to live a life of their choosing. It is not light or easy or fun reading but it is a fast read with minimal character development. I would consider it to be more of a novella/graphic novel without the graphics. I was engaged by the story and the way it was told. It may not be for everyone, but I would read more from this author.
