I liked this, and will probably eventually read the rest of the series because of curiosity about the other characters, but I'm not gonna rush to read it all as fast as possible.

I'm not normally into military/action romances, but I still liked this one. Marcus was super yummy, and I really enjoyed how both the MCs secretly liked each other before they got together. The world building was good, too, without being overwhelming with the details.
My main problem with the story is just that it felt too rushed. Once the MCs hooked up, they were suddenly, completely in love. And of course, Marcus does the macho thing and pushes her away when he feels she's affecting his job. But then they get back together two days later, and they're super emotional, like they were a couple forever and split up for ages. It was just a bit much. (And I also had a hard time believing that a self-described party-girl became a language expert in 6 months.)
Despite how I feel about the pacing of the romance in the book, it was an enjoyable read, and I look forward to trying the next one in the series.

(Read this book out of sequence. Read Cruz first (book 2) then went back and read Marcus, and now continuing in order.)
A very original and unique story arc. Anna Hackett knows how to bring the exact perfect blend of Action, SciFi, and Romance to her books. Marcus and Elle were an excellent introduction at what all future Hell Squad books were going to be like. There is a great introduction that throws you right into the middle of the action but you aren't expecting, yet you're not lost by this introduction, nor will you get bored. The enemies are an alien lizard like creature that have similarities to dinosaurs, and the Hell Squad Team, and the other Squads are an amazing supporting cast for the characters. Once you get to know them, you'll be itching to get your hands on their story.
A big fighting 5 stars for Marcus!

I listened to the audiobook and the narrators did a good job. This was a quick entertaining listen. The world building was easy to follow and the characters main and secondary were enjoyable. I enjoyed the storyline and look forward to listening to more in the series.
Not a terribly in depth book, but it was a fun quick read for me. I don't know that I would recommend it to anyone unless they were bored. I was curious, and the abs on the cover were calling my name. I do love a good set of abs
