Not as strong as the start. It’s more of a sandman tie in now which you can handle how you like. I think it’s okay. I don’t know what to really say. It gets way hornier.
The mini stories between are still peak tho

This reads like a parody of 90s teenage hood, almost like MTV downtown but more on drugs, heathers but more British, a hedonistic fever dream and one of the weirdest coming out of age stories you ever had to witness. Problematic? Sure. Controversial? Definitely! Worth your time? If you’re into that stuff give it a go.

I love it. I like the main character Fig a lot, I love her story, I feel like it’s really relatable to most of us. That one day our spark is gone because something terrible happened to us and now we try to grasp the very concept of the spark that left us.
I like the group of people that are represented in the comics and the short horror stories within the main narrative are such a blast to read. They are like little stories you tell your friends while sitting around a fire place eating marshmallows.
The dialogue is sharp and the narrative too. I loved that we switch between artist and writers a lot. It makes a fun mix.
The only thing that icks me is the main sequence art but that is with most of that periods comics. I can’t wrap around my mind why the art direction of that particular time is THIS bad.

Meh. Not the worst but one of the best sandman presents I fear.

I think the art is at the start really tedious but the art picks up pace and gets better with every issue, still not my fav artstyle but it stops being annoying. The story set up is kinda eh, but I like that the 4 issues try to conclude in their own way, a way how superman could have lived his life with his own happy ending.
It’s not my series at all, but with every issue more I kinda understood the appeal, not from the set up but from the writing perspective. It’s was a fast read for me too. I got through it easily even tho it has a lot of chunks when it comes to words.
Is it an overall good thing? I think. Would I recommend it to superman fans? Sure. I would, even when I think this comic is not really made for me. I think there are people out there who would appreciate it.

Okay, so, Nimona is next to spiderverse 1 my fav animation movie. So this year for the trans readaton I decided to get into the graphic novel? Comic? Idk.
You feel the differences and some are better and some are worse. I like when a work improves on the original like the movie does but still keeps its own charm. This comic, still after being older than the movie definitely still has its own perks. I admire that.
I also admire how moved I am, even when the story takes a whole another turn. It almost feels different but still the same. You can see that with characters like Ballister being called Blackheart and not Boldheart. The characters are still on top, the story strikes and the bits between the lines with its symbolism still gets me as a genderqueer person.
That art is so funky. I have no other word for it then funky. It’s easy but can still express a lot of emotions.
However, something that threw me out was the chapters and how disconnected they felt at first but that was just for like the first 40 pages. Then I got around to that.
