Merit by Devney Perry
3.5
'Merit' is the last book in the series and one of my favourites as well. Maverick and Stevie's story is a friends to enemies to lovers sports romance. I really enjoyed reading this one. From their backstory to their Saturday dates, Mav and Stevie were so entertaining. I wasn't really a fan of the reason why they started their Saturday dates or how they handled it at first. Especially when they wouldn't actually talk with one another because there wasn't trust between them, but it got better as the story went on. This book also handles grief so well, in my opinion. I'm not mad at Maverick at all for how he handled things, I actually found the fact that he took a step back from everything because of his knowledge of his reaction to this event until he could handle life again, very mature. I wasn't the biggest fan of how he and Steve rekindled things, but their love story was very beautiful. Overall, a great book, but not the best one I've ever read.
Rally by Devney Perry

'Rally' might be my favourite book in this series (probably along with Merit). This is an unexpected pregnancy, football romance that delivered for me. I loved both main characters, from their flaws to their strengths.
Faith and Rush were so entertaining to read. Faith's backstory and her healing journey were so good, I couldn't get enough of her. I especially loved how, despite how many times Maverick made her feel unwelcome, Faith stood her ground and hit right back at him. And how, in the end, they became friends. Rush was also a very entertaining main character. I was a bit annoyed with his go-with-the-flow attitude, especially when it mostly caused problems, but I was glad when he finally realised he needed to step up and get out of his routine and step into his role as a dad to be wholly.
One of my favourite things in this book is that it doesn't romanticise pregnancy. It shows a lot of problems and situations that can arise from this and how Rush and Faith truly needed to be a team to go through them. Overall, a great boo,k but not really my favourite.

Blitz by Devney Perry

'Blitz' is Toren and Jennsyn's story. It's an age gap, football coach x volleyball player sports romance. Overall, this book was okay.
I especially liked Jennsyn and her journey from Stanford to Mission. I loved reading about her relationship with her parents and how that affected everything in her life without her releasing it, and how she finally found her footing in the end. How, despite her insecurities and her fears, she made new friends and learnt to trust them more.
Toren was also a good main character. His family history broke my heart, and reading about him being a father figure to his little cousins was truly beautiful. However, that's just it. I wasn't that much into their romance since it mostly felt like lust to me, and I felt like the middle part of the book kind of dragged.

Coach by Devney Perry

'Coach' is a single dad, friends to strangers to lovers, second chance romance. Trope wise it sounds amazing, and I was so incredibly excited to read it. Unfortunately, I could not find myself caring for this couple or the main male character. I liked Millie, she was a great main character. I loved her personality, her job and the way everyone came to her for advice, and she was always so happy to help. I even liked Joey. She was an absolute sweetheart (okay, sometimes a brat, but I can look past it because of the circumstances). But I couldn't bring myself to care for her dad. Ford was so incredibly annoying. He only cared for himself (an,d sure his daughter). He wouldn't take no for an answer, and the reason to break things off with Millie in the past was such búllshit. Okayish book, in my opinion, but the series does get a lot better!

I wanted so badly to read a werewolf romance, and oh my God, if I could go back in time and talk to my past self, I would BEG her not to pick this up. Both main characters were toxic, the female main character was a pick me girl (the whole I'm an Alpha female I won't beg thing was incredibly annoying) and the male main character was just an asshole. The whole pack dynamic did not sit right with me, and I couldn't find myself caring for any of them. This was 10% plot and 90% smut. Most smut scenes felt like assault/r*pe and it baffles me that people rated this five stars. I only picked this up because I loved 'The Favor' by this author and because of the reviews. I will not be continuing this series.
Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor
4.0
‘Daughter of Smoke and Bone’ was exactly what I wanted it to be and maybe even more.
Apart from a few slow chapters in the beginning and some way too wordy paragraphs, I found this book to be perfect. From the characters to the actions and of course, the lore, this book sank its claws so deep into me that I know I am going to be thinking about it for a lot of years to come.
Karou’s characters was so interesting, especially because of her mysterious past and Akiva’s mysterious personality and heart paired so well with that. Honestly, the whole book had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put it down!
I definitely recommend this to lovers of fantasy with a side of romance (especially if you love the forbidden romance trope)!

Here's the thing with this one; I liked it. It wasn't that bad in my opinion but I could not for the life of me care for the MMC. Jackson got on my nerves in almost every chapter. No matter how hard he tried to convince me that he liked/loved Willa, I just couldn't believe him. I loved Willa, she was my favourite character in the book; she was kind, she was strong and most of all I loved her evolution! But she definitely deserved a lot more than Jackson. I'm not gonna lie, her devotion and loyalty are something that I strive to have but he did not deserve her. Every time he mentioned that he wasn't the marriage type and he would break up with her soon and then didn't, I wanted to reach in and give him a piece of my mind! The rest of the book was really good though; from Ryder's plot to the whole murder investigation, I enjoyed that a lot. Just not the MMC.

From badass assassins with a twisted past to grumpy Kings with godlike powers, this book had it all. Now this was very character-driven but I did not mind it one bit. I actually really enjoyed reading this one; all the characters were flawed in this beautiful way that made sense. Past trauma was evident everywhere but it was fixed just because the great threat was dealt with. Instead, even in the epilogue, all those little cracks linger and still mess with the heroes' lives.
The FMC and the MMC made so many mistakes in the duration of the book but it was refreshing to see that they didn't let those get in the way and actually tried to work with them and figure everything out. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that the side characters had some depth to them and they weren't just there to fill in the voids left by the main characters. Everyone had their part and they contributed to the story no matter how big or small their part was.
I only had two problems with this book. One; I feel like some parts of the lore weren't explained properly and needed a bit more than we were given (SLIGHT SPOILERS: from the world-building to Renna's powers and how sorceresses were different than the Evergreens) and two; I wanted a bit more to the battle at the end. Well, not the actual battle but the villains behind it. I feel like everything went so fast that we never really got who the bad guys were and where did they go? Were they all extinguished? What exactly happened there?
Overall though, this was a really good fantasy romance that I would totally recommend people give a chance!

Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

Where do I even begin with this one? I went into this book thinking ‘How worse can this series get?’ and the author said ‘BET’.
Everything was done so horribly; from the Jacob chapters that went on and on and had no end to poor Bella hating that idiot nickname for her daughter and everyone except Edward just ignoring her and then, the whole imprinting thing.
How did the author think this was the best thing to do to end a love triangle? Reneesme calling Jacob hers and practically preferring him over her own dad was diabolical. Also, are we just going to ignore the whole engagement bracelet he gave her? Or how he was very territorial of her, even when it came to her own mother? What about Jacob seeing the birth and commenting on Bella’s naked body and how this wasn’t how he wanted to see her naked for the first time? I am not even going to comment on Edward calling Jacob 'son' towards the end, I’m still scarred from reading that.
Two stars go to Edward (again for being the best character), the Cullens and the lore behind the Volturi. Heck, maybe even the witnesses’ cool powers. And that’s honestly too many stars. I’m still stuck between that and a one-star review. What an awful ending to this series. I 100% do not recommend.

Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

This one is the complete opposite case of the previous book because I enjoyed the movie way more than I did this. Two and a half stars go to Edward, the Cullens and really the whole newborn army plot and the revenge story behind it because Bella gave me the ick in this book. I could honestly not understand her; she was yapping throughout the whole book about her love for Edward, how she wanted to be with him forever and her choice to become a vampire.
But every time Jacob came and cried about loving her and kissing her without her consent and then, telling her that he was going to die to make her say she was in love with him and her forgiving him every time, was not it. Jacob went from one of my favourite characters to the worst character possible. I even prefer Sam and the Volturi over him. He was acting so immature and just wouldn’t take no for an answer.
This was not the book I was expecting it to be, I’m very disappointed.
